Introduction

Life is like a big, colorful painting where feelings are the brushstrokes that give it meaning. As we go through ups and downs, happiness adds bright colors, while sadness brings darker shades. Love feels like a soft, blushing hue, and anger is a bold red. Fear sneaks in when things get uncertain, and surprises are spontaneous splatters of color. And the cool part – we're not just watching; we're the ones in control. Emotions aren't some mysterious forces that manipulate the brushstrokes; we can actually learn to handle them. We can apply, blend, and control the colors on the canvas of our life! How? By understanding ourselves and thinking about our feelings, we get to decide how we react.

Now, in case you haven't noticed,  people have a bias towards negativity. Probably because negative emotions are like black splotches of paint! They suck away the energy from all the other pretty colors, leaving us down. But there's a reason for why our brain gives significantly more weight to negative events than to positive ones. Your brain is designed for survival. Think about it – the chance of you being born was extremely low. All the generations before you had to face dangers and even death to survive long enough to procreate. Agreed, we're no longer being chased by a starving tiger, but our survival mechanism hasn’t changed much. Our brain still prioritizes emotions of fear and anxiety over everything else. But, that still doesn't mean we can let them overwhelm us! Fortunately, we have just the book for it.

In the book “Master Your Emotions” by Thibaut Meurisse, we’ll understand the language of emotions and learn to incorporate them to craft a life that will rise above negativity and be fulfilling in nature.
